Imphal, November 28 2010: With the inauguration of a new building of Seismological Observatory at Chingmeirong, VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) based Seismic Telementry Network System has been installed in Imphal for the first time in North East region.

Such Telementry Network is to be installed in 20 stations of North East States which is seismically most active region known as Zone V, said a press release.

With the installation of the new equipment, the system of earthquake preparation, alarm and response service will be enhanced considerably.

The earthquake parameters transmitted by Telemetered Seismograph Network in North East States will be autolocated and rapid earthquake information will be disseminated to the concerned agencies of the Government.
