Imphal, November 28 2010:
Families of the five officials of PHED who have been abducted by KCP (MC) have exerted pressure on the Chief Minister for bringing about a solution to ensure safe release of the abducted officials at the earliest possible.
Submitting a memorandum to the Chief Minister jointly today, the families demanded that the matter should be resolved within three days.
The families have also categorically stated that the State Govt should be responsible for any eventuality to the abducted officials in case it fails to pay due attention to the matter.
The five officials including two Assistant Engineers have been abducted on their way to Tadubi by armed cadres of KCP (MC) yesterday.
They were going to Tadubi as an advance team of Govt officials in connection with inauguration of a water supply scheme taken up by PHE Dept under NLCPR.
Secretary of publicity and information of the proscribed KCP (MC) Phaikhomba has claimed the responsibility for the abduction.
The white colour Bolero in which the five officials have travelled was later recovered by the police from Daili village of Senapati district.
Talking to mediapersons while coming to submit the memo, the family members said that whereabouts of the five abducted officials are not known since their captivity at around 8 am yesterday.
The abductors have also not contacted any of the family members.
