The Joint Action Committee Against the Murder of Ngamkholet Baite has called for a 12 hr chakka bandh on November 30 from 5 am in the entire Churachandpur district in protest against the murder of village chief Ngamkhuolet Baite by UKLF.
The JAC will continue its agitation until its demands are met, secretary of the JAC, Jangmang said in a press release today.
Meanwhile, the Zillai general headquarter has declared full support to the chakka bandh in Churachandpur on November 30, and appeal to the people to support the bandh so that the just demands of the JAC could be met by the government immediately, secretary, Information and Publicity, S Suatak said.
At the same time, the JAC Against the Murder of Ngamkholet Baite has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Manipur demanding payment of ' 3 lakh as ex-gratia to the bereaved family, also taking punitive action against UKLF and recruitment of VDF in the hill areas specially Sugunu-Sangaikot area to protect innocent civilians and ensuring communal harmony in the area.
The JAC said in the memorandum that the reasons given by UKLF are all false and baseless.
Murdering someone without a warning and branding someone something after killing him is not acceptable whatever might be the reason.
The government should book the culprits at the earliest.
The ZILLAI headquarters in an open letter to the SoO Monitoring Cell demanded that the monitoring cell and the AR should take necessary actions against the UKLF and book them under the law of the land, falling which the Association will be compelled to launch an intensive agitation.
Meanwhile, Thadou Students' Association, Chandel district has also strongly condemned the killing of Ngamkholet Baite, chief of Tupiching village in Chandel district on November 14 right in front of his wife.
