Imphal, November 28 2010:
Expressing concern over the possible loss of the students and other individuals in the border town in the event of shut down of the present DOEACC Extension Centre at Moreh, leaders of various communities settling in the border down have fervently appealed to the Government for keeping the centre and ensuring its proper functioning.
Pointing out that in the wake of Look East Policy of the Government of India, computer knowledge has become indispensable, the community leaders asserted that shut down or shifting of the DOEACC extension centre from Moreh would be a great loss to the people and more particularly the youths living in the border town.
So far, there has been no other computer training centre of the Government in Moreh and the CIC which used to function from ADC office complex has been laying defunct for the last many years.
In such a situation, shutting down or shifting away of the DOEACC extension centre would be very unfortunate, they said.
Furthermore, the community leaders pointed out that since the launch of the DOEACC extension centre at Moreh, many SC/ST students and even those coming from Myanmar have been benefited from free computer training courses.
Apart from helping in the ongoing border trade activities, the DOEACC centre has also been the only reliable means of telecommunication for the people of Moreh.
