State observes World Hepatitis Day

People will have access to better healthcare facilities if there is coordination between the nodal officers of health care providers and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), said Health Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan today.
The National Health Mission (NHM ) Manipur and the Directorate of Health Services jointly observed World Hepatitis Day 2023 at Classic Grande under the theme "One Live One Liver" .
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Ranjan continued that the Indian Government aims to eliminate hepatitis from the country by 2030 .
Saying that coordination among medical practitioners and NGOs is indispensable to achieve the target, the Health Minister said that people need to know types, symptoms and causes of hepatitis to prevent infections.
Chances of getting liver infections are higher among people with hepatitis, he said.
Dr Ranjan further said that intaking of locally brewed and adulterated liquor was found to be the major causes of liver diseases in some cases in Manipur during a Government survey.
