The condition of Lilong Haorebi College in Thoubal district is in pathetic and deplorable state due to allege negligence on the part of the authority concerned towards its development.
A total of 850 students is accommodating in only four usable classrooms out of 14 in the college, general secretary of the students' union of the college, Abdul Hakim said in a briefing to reporters at the college premises.
Out of the 14 classrooms in the college, only 4 are in usable condition.
The walls of the other 10 classes had crumbled down and roof also leaked during rainfall.
It is due to lack of quality control at the time of construction, said the general secretary adding that this has resulted in the accommodation of all the 850 students in four rooms on rotation basis.
Hakim further revealed that the equipments in the college laboratories are outdated and they do not have any modern scientific instruments which are very much essential during practical classes.
The college library is also only in namesake.
Books are not consistent with the syllabus of the University.
There is no proper supply of electricity and water to the college.
Out of the three toilets only one is functioning, general secretary said drawing attention of the authority concerns to look into the legitimate requirements of the college.
