Lamka, July 26 2010:
An organization namely, 'Committee on Protection of Tribal Areas' (COPTAM) was formed yesterday at Imphal to deliberate on the predicaments of the tribal community.
The body that came into being after a thorough deliberation will be headed by Letpu Haokip from Churachandpur while Thangkam Lupheng from Sadar Hills is Organizational Secretary.
A 13-member executive committee from Tamenglong, Chandel, Sadar Hills, Imphal and Churachandpur will assist the body in its attempt to defend the State tribal community, Chairman Letpu Haokip said.
