A day-long 'Reproductive and child health' camp was organised by District Health Society, Imphal East at Ningthounai Chingya which is under the jurisdiction of Yambem Primary Health Centre.
According to the Chief Medical Officer of Imphal East, Dr Momota Mukherjee such health camps are in the pipelines and will be conducted at 12 different places of Imphal East district under the National Rural Health Mission for the period 2010-2011 .
The camps are to be organised with the main objective of reducing mortality rate among the pregnant women and children in the age group of upto 10 years.
Today's health camp is the first such camp.
Around 30 ASHAs under Yambem PHC have extended their support in the successful conduct of the today's health camp during which medicines were also distributed among the patients free of cost.
Dr Mukherjee informed that apart from treatment in Govt hospitals, financial assistance are also being provided to pregnant women under NRHM when they go for treatment at private hospitals like Raj Polyclinic, Langol View, Shija Hospital and Imphal Hospital.
