Special outreach health camp held, humanitarian aid extended

A special outreach health camp was held today at Ibudhou Chengjel Naran Panganba community hall in Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai.
The health camp was organised by the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) Kwakeithel in line with the Nationwide Ayushman Bhavah campaign aimed at promoting healthcare facilities and schemes to the beneficiaries surpassing all boundaries.
Around 218 individuals were examined for various health care concerns during the camp by the doctors and staff of UPHC Kwakeithel.
Screening of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), free medical tests and routine immunization were also done during the camp.

As a part of the camp, an awareness talk on 'Breast cancer' was also conducted.
Free medicines were provided and registration of Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) cards for 99 eligible beneficiaries were also done.
Meanwhile, the 'Readers' of Books & Brains Library, Keishampat, has extended humanitarian aid to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) staying at Moirang Konjengbam Leikai Community Hall Relief Camp, Moirang Shribon Leikai Community Hall Relief Camp, Wangoo Sellungkhong Upper Primary School Relief Camp & Thangalawai Awang Leikai, Khongnang Makhong Relief Camp in Bishnupur district and Wangoo Chingonglei Makhong Nongyaikhong Relief Camp in Kakching district on November 5, 2023 .
The team of 'Readers' visited eight camps in advance and analysed their condition and picked the aforementioned five camps after interacting with the IDPs to understand their needs & requirements, said a release.
In their visits to Moirang Konjengbam and Shribon, the team of 'Readers' was joined by staff and students of Don Bosco Hr Sec School, Chingmeirong.
Nikita Thounaojam, a reader from Books & Brains Library said, "What started as a suggestion for a small donation drive for winter clothes turned into a huge campaign as many readers of Books and Brains library came out as volunteers for the donation drive.
Immensely pleased with the enthusiasm and willingness of the readers to participate in such an important cause despite their busy schedule" .
One of the volunteers, Ringo Pebam added, "Monetary contributions came in from Manipur and outside the state, cutting across religion and race.
But it was not enough, so over 30 ardent readers of Books & Brains Library left aside their studies, volunteered, formed different teams with donation boxes, and went to over 1300 shops and over 25 government and private offices over a period of 5 days, and raised a sum of Rs 1,17,425, which is something extraordinary" .
The relief items provided to the IDPs included blankets, warmers, sweaters, shoes, books, notebooks, socks, mothers horlicks, formula milk, sanitary pads, medicines, footballs, chess boards, needles, threads, baby carriers, winter clothes, tarpaulin, etc.
The 'Readers' received generous donations from shops at Keishampat/ Paona Keithel, Thangal Keithel, MG Avenue, Major Khul, Wahengbam Leikai, Thangmeiband and Khuyathong; Physics Today, Keishampat; Munchies; Punshi Pharmacy and Poknapham.
Employees of Food Corporation of India, Regional Office, Old Assembly; Employees State Insurance Corporation, Imphal; Employees Provident Fund Organisation, Imphal; Passport Seva Kendra, Old Assembly; Manipur State Cooperative Bank; ICICI Thangal Bazar; Aditya Birla Health Insurance, Thangal Bazar; Public Works Department, Head Office, Imphal; Life Insurance Corporation of India, Khoyathong; Juvenile Police Unit (Imphal West); Imphal West Police Station; Cyber Crime; Board of Secondary Education, Manipur; Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA); Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA); State Bank of India-Retail Asset Credit Centre (SBI RACC), Imphal; Food Corporation of India, Divisional Office, Yaiskul; Imphal West DC Bungalow; Manipur Rural Bank; Principal Accountant Generals, Manipur; BSNL Babupara; SBI Babupara near Post Office; Planning Office, Babupara; Horticulture Department, Sanjenthong; and Department of Agriculture, Sanjenthong also contributed to the relief fund raised by the 'Readers' .
