Imphal, November 10 2023:
Normal life was severely affected in the State, particularly the valley districts on the first day of the public curfew/bandh called by the JAC formed in connection with the kidnapping of Ningthoujam An- thony and Maibam Avinash.
The JAC called a public curfew/bandh from 4 am today till 1 pm of Saturday, urging the Government to trace the whereabouts of the two students and rescue them.
Except for some private vehicles, all public transporters including inter- district passenger carriers stayed off the road.

Khwairamband Keithel and all other major markets of Imphal valley remained shut.
Schools and colleges were closed.
Attendance at Government officers was also quite low.
Even though police took up stringent security measures so as to avoid any untoward incident, oil pumps too remained closed.
On the other hand, a large number of people came out on Imphal-Uripok Kang-chup road and blocked the road by piling boulders and placing timbers/bamboos since morning.
So far, there is no report of any untoward incident.
