Imphal, November 10 2023:
The Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) has highlighted various issues in Manipur University which has reportedly led to the decline in quality of education provided in the university.
In a release, KSA claimed that MU has been plagued with various issues resulting in the fall of the University from A Grade (NAAC) to B Grade and failure to breach the top 100 of NIRF Ranking.
The students body claimed that due to various malpractices and groupism among the authorities who have been appointed from time-to-time, the university which is a centre for higher education in the State has been facing severe criticism from all corners.
The student body also alleged that authorities of MU are more focused on contractual work & recruitment for daily wage jobs instead of academics and added that the day-to-day affairs of the university has been disrupted due to administrative gaps among the authorities.
KSO also alleged that the authorities of MU have not responded to the representation submitted by the organisation to produce the employee list of those who have been engaged on contract/ daily wage in the university from 2019 to 2023 .
The student body pointed out that the University has not declared the results of entrance tests for MA/ MSC and 2nd & 4th Semester Exams of BA/BSc.
"The VC of MU should ensure that teachers stay at their departments during working hours and teachers/ faculty members should show professionalism by not seeking contractual work in the university", it added.
Highlighting that the present authorities should be held morally responsible for the decline of MU, the student body cautioned that it will strictly monitor any form of malpractices in the university and send a representation to the Union Education Minister to initiate an enquiry against the authorities of MU .
