High security measures were taken up at Sagang Bazar situated in the adjacent area of Bishnupur and Churachandpur by the top brass of State and Central forces including Bishnupur SP during the gun fight.
Meanwhile, agricultural work at Yaingangpokpi Santikhongbal and Sabungkhok Khunou under Lamlai Constituency was interrupted for some time as farmers fled from the fields after some armed Kukis allegedly intimidated them to vacate the area 'if they don't want to die' .
Shortly later, a team of State police carried out a search operation in the area but no one was arrested.
The farmers returned to fields under the security cover of State police and BSF.
Speaking to the media, one of the farmers said that they went to the fields at around 9 am.
Saying that some people intimidated them from Uyong Ching and told them to leave the area, shortly after they began working, the farmer continued that they fled from the area as they weren't in the position to confront the miscreants.
He said that Kuki militants have been attacking Meeteis from Uyong Ching since the beginning of the conflict on May 3 by building multiple bunkers.
Security forces had dismantled the bunkers at Uyong Ching recently but that didn't stop Kuki militants from erecting new bunkers, he added.
Continuing that the situation is still unpredictable at Yaingangpokpi, he urged the Government to set up an IRB or Manipur Rifles post at their area as soon as possible.
