Imphal, November 10 2023:
In an effort to address security concerns in the state, CM N Biren chaired a high-level security meeting at his secretariat office, on Friday.
The meeting which was attended by top officials of police department, Assam Rifles and other security agencies underlined the need for a comprehensive strategy to effectively tackle the evolving security situation in the state.
The meeting was convened subsequent to the CM launching function of the Permanent Housing Scheme held at the CM secretariat on Thursday where the CM provided financial assistance to families adversely affected by recent acts of violence in the state.
In his post on 'X', chief minister N Biren Singh said "Chaired a security meeting with the top police officials, Assam Rifles and other security officials at my secretariat office today.
The meeting emphasised the need for a comprehensive strategy to tackle the evolving security situation in Manipur" .
During the launch function of the Permanent Housing Scheme, CM Biren had said that the government is monitoring all activities taking place in the state and declared that the government would not remain as a mere spectator to any crimes committed by anyone.
People should refrain from violence and bring up their grievances so that it could be solved through constitutional means, he stressed.
Under the Permanent Housing Scheme, the government has outlined a tiered financial support system: Rs 10 lakh for the construction of pucca houses, Rs 7 lakh for semi-pucca houses, and Rs 5 lakhs for kutcha houses.
The aid, which will be distributed in two instalments, is expected to benefit over 4800 beneficiaries across the state.
It may be mentioned here that CM Biren on another occasion had said that his government was closely monitoring and consulting with the centre for restoring peace in the state.
According to him, the crisis which broke out on May 3 last has evolved out of the government's effort to protect the forests and the war waged against drugs and poppy cultivation, in addition to the actions initiated against illegal immigrants.
