CBSE book calls Licypriya 'child hero'

Licypriya Kangujam, who has become a global inspiration for her relentless campaign to protect the environment, is now recognised as a 'child hero' in the CBSE English syllabus, marking a significant acknowledgment of her impactful activism.
Expressing her joy on discovering her story in the CBSE English textbook, Licypriya shared her excitement on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "Absolutely an honour to see my story in the school English textbook of CBSE.

From humble beginnings to a compelling week-long protest outside the Indian Parliament, capturing the attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to advocate for a climate change law in India, to the establishment of Licypriya Foundation' by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Dr Jose Ramos Horta on May 21, 2022, Licypriya has emerged as a symbol of global youth climate movement.
Defying criticisms and judgments about her age, Licypriya has steadfastly believed in the power of children to lead change.
Now, her story is gaining widespread attention and support, positioning her as a catalyst for real and meaningful change.
Inspired by Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg, Licypriya began her journey as a climate change advocate at the tender age of six.
Motivated by first hand experiences of the impacts of climate change, she embarked on a mission to hold leaders accountable for securing the future.
Born to Kanarjit Kangujam and Bidyarani Devi in Bashikhong Wangkhei Loumanbi, Licypriya, now 12, has become a prominent voice for climate change, addressing large audiences at protests and conferences.
Her Child Movement' aims to raise awareness and advocate for the protection of the planet from climate change and natural disasters.
Licypriya not only represents the voice of millions affected by the climate crisis but also speaks for the countless voiceless animals on the planet.
Starting her solo advocacy in July 2018, she garnered widespread support globally and remains committed to the simple yet crucial goal: 'Save our planet and our future'.
During the 2019 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP25), Licypriya expressed her disappointment at world leaders' denial of the climate change threat and urged them to take decisive action.
It's worth noting that Licypriya has also been actively vocal on the ongoing unrest in Manipur, using her social media platforms to address the issue and appealing to central and world leaders, including the Pope, to bring an end to the violence in the state.
