Public curfew cripples normal life

The public curfew imposed by the JAC formed in connection with the disappearance of Maibam Avinash and Ningthoujam Anthony crippled normal life at Jiribam and Thoubal districts as well.
The JAC called the public curfew since the Government failed to trace the whereabouts of Maibam Avinash and Ningthoujam Anthony who went missing on November 5 .
Market places, schools and colleges remained shut and the roads bore a deserted look since the public transport remained off the road except for few private vehicles in the district.
Supporting the public curfew which will be in place till 1pm tomorrow, volunteers of Meitei Community Joint Co Ordinating Committee-Waithou, Kiyam, Kiyam Siphai, Haokha and Waithou blocked the road along National Highway 102 and burnt tyres.
The committee appealed to the Government to expedite measures to trace the two young missing boys.
The public curfew also impacted normal life in Jiribam district hampering normal functioning.
Apart from closing of market places, schools and colleges, with very few people turning up at Government offices.
However, media, emergency and medical and traditional events were exempted from the purview of the public curfew.
There has been no report of unwanted incidents till the filing of this news report.
It is worth noting that the Government and its machinery has failed to trace the two young missing boys despite strong appeals made from all spheres.
