'Good' politician is one who works with a vision : Biren

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has asserted that a good politician is the one who works with a vision to secure the lives of present and future generations.
The Chief Minister today laid foundation stones for various development projects at a programme held at Keirak, Kakching district.
The projects which would be taken up at the estimated cost of Rs 14 crore consist of Manipur Road Project ie, Improvement of road from Keirak to Wabagai Tera Urak and Improvement of road from Wabagai Tera Urak to Turel Mamei and construction of football ground with natural grass at Keirak.
The implementing agency for the first two road projects is DRDA, Kakching district and that of the football ground is Manipur Police Housing Corporation Limited.

Addressing the foundation stone laying function, the Chief Minister stated that a good politician's role and responsibility are not limited to development of infrastructure and helping the underprivileged.
Claiming that the State Government and the Central Government have been working together to bring a solution to the Manipur crisis, N Biren appealed to the people not to create unrest for no valid reasons in the valley.
The violent conflict was engineered as a reaction to the Government's several measures to protect forests, eradicate drug menace and check illegal immigration, he asserted before appealing to help the Government in exploring a solution after understanding the root causes of the violence.
Biren said that the prefabricated houses being constructed at Yaithibi Loukon at the border of Thoubal and Kakching districts would be inaugurated soon and the people staying in relief camps would be shifted there.
The Chief Minister informed that the football ground for which foundation stone was laid today would be constructed at a cost of around Rs 8 crore.
The ground will have an RCC gallery which includes a changing room and toilet too, he added.
He continued that the state Government would be constructing a total of 11 such football grounds across the State.
The Chief Minister mentioned that the State has been witnessing a tough phase due to the present conflict and everyone has been facing much hardship.
However, the Government must continue its development works alongside taking up measures to restore peace and normalcy in the State.
He highlighted the root causes of the current conflict in the State, reiterating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Central leaders have been taking up certain initiatives to protect the State and its indigenous people, apart from various development and welfare programmes.
Mentioning different welfare schemes launched by the Central and State Governments, he claimed that the Central leaders have much concern for the people of the State.
N Biren stated that repairing of road stretches from Mayang Imphal to Kakching Lamkhai would be started by the end of this year and informed that the Central Government has approved an amount of Rs 480 crore for the same.
Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam, while delivering his speech, appreciated the far-sighted vision of Chief Minister N Biren Singh and his initiative to preserve nature and maintain ecological balance.
He spoke on the effect of environmental degradation due to certain human factors, stressing the need to keep a balance with nature.
Highlighting the talents of Manipuri youths in the field of games and sports, Govindas Konthoujam who is also the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports informed that 11 football grounds with natural grass would be constructed across the State.
He recalled that the All-India Football Federation (AIFF) and Youth Affairs and Sports Department had earlier signed an agreement to establish a football academy in the State under the technical support of AIFF and as such, some feather football grounds are needed to be constructed across the State.
Considering the emergence of a considerable number of footballers from Keirak who are now playing at State and National levels, the Government decided to construct a football ground there.
He informed that the Central Government had approved Rs 480 crore for construction of road from Mayang Imphal to Kakching Lamkhai and added that the road would be of four lanes except a 10 km stretch of 2 lanes.
During the programme, the Chief Minister also distributed certain items under Samagra Shiksha flagship programme.
CMHT cards, Ayushman Bharat cards, Old Age Pension Scheme, CM Widow Pension Scheme, NFSA ration cards, LPG connection under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and Job cards were also distributed to beneficiaries.
Social Welfare Minister Heikham Dingo, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha Leishemba Sanajaoba, Chairman, Manipur Pollution Control Board Dr Usham Deben, Chairman, Manipur Industrial Development Corporation Ltd Kongkham Robindro, Chairman, Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation Khongbantabam Ibomcha, Chairman, Manipur Electronics Development Corporation Sapam Kunjakeswor, MLA of Kakching AC Mayanglambam Rameshwar and other Govt officials attended the programme, among others.
