Monsang tribe observes 'Sirti Thamna Enii'

The 5th 'Sirti Thamna Enii', aIso known as Monsang Day of Prayer 2023, was observed by Sirti Upa Ruh (SUR)/Monsang Tribe Union, the apex body of the Monsang tribe at Liwa Khullen communi ty hall in Chandel district on Sunday.
The programme was attended by St Dominic Catholic Church, Liwa-Khullen local catechist Th Vincent Warnong, and Japhou Baptist Church evangelist reverend John Khartu as main celebrants.
Speaking on the occasion, SUP president Ng Benithan thanked the Monsang elders and leaders who led the Monsang people socially, politically and religiously thus far.
The main purpose of observance of 'Sirti Thamna Enii' is to thank and seek God's blessing for Monsang people through collective community prayer irrespective of religious denominations and affiliations, he stated.
It may be mentioned that 'Sirti Thamna Enii' is held on October 29 every year since 2019 by SUR as the Monsang tribe got recognition as Scheduled Tribe on October 29, 1956.The observance was also attended by many Monsang citizens from all Monsang villages and churches including Monsang leaders from SUR, SER, SSR, STS, MOA, MLLS, SOA, church leaders, village chiefs, women leaders and student leaders in Monsang traditional attires.
Song and dance were also performed by Women Society of St Dominic Church, Ts Angchung, Liwachangning Women Fellowship, Liwa Sarei Youth Club and Japhou Baptist Church, Children Sunday School during the event.
The congregation offered special prayer for peace, prosperity and development of the Monsang tribe during the observance, which ended with closing prayer by Changnhe Baptist Church, MNBCA licentiate pastor W Molali.
