Books on global, tribal literatures released

Two books - Changdamnabagi Khorirol (Theory and Practices) and Bharatki Tribal Khorirol Neinaba written by Manipur University, Department of English retired professor Kh Kunjo and published in both Bengali and Meetei Mayek, were released in a function held at Manipur Press Club, here, on Sunday.
Lilong MLA Md Abdul Nasir and Sahitya Akademi New Delhi's Manipuri Language Advisory Board convenor professor Rajen Toijamba attended the event as chief guest and president respectively.
Renowned critic and writer L Memo and MU assistant professor Dr Naorem Ahanjao were also present at the function as guests of honour.
L Memo gave a brief introduction on 'Chandamnabagi Khorirol' while Dr Naorem Ahanjao presented a review on 'Bharatki Tribal Khorirol Neinaba'.
Author Kh Kunjo said that the first book is a comparison of popular literary works from across the world in order to present a middle path of the culture, tradition, politics and economy of different countries.
It is an attempt to show the contribution of literature in globalisation, he said.
The second book is a study on the literature of ST communities from across the country in order to understand their outlook towards a harmonious society in modern democracy.
It is an attempt to bring out the sentiments of ST communities and present the role of tribal literature in bringing about equality in the society, he added.
