Tengnoupal, April 27 2023: The body of a man was found at Khujailok River in an adjoining area between Moreh Ward No 6 and 7 this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Seiminthang Lupho alias Thangboi (28), s/o (L) Sehlal Lupho from Canan Veng, Moreh Ward No 7 .

Moreh Police has picked up the dead body and registered a case in this connection.

Meanwhile, the Joint Action Committee Against the Murder of Seiminthang Lupho has demanded the authority concerned to apprehend the culprits responsible for this heinous act within 24 hours.

A statement issued by David Mimin Vaiphei, secretary and Jamkhokam Mate, convenor of the JAC has cautioned that various forms of agitation will be launched from 6 am of April 28 if the relevant authority fails to nab the perpetrators within the given time period.

The JAC claimed that the death of Seiminthang is clearly a case of murder as his body bore several wound marks, such as a mark on the forehead and chest, blood stain on his ear along with a fractured left hand.

It added that blood was also found on the bridge atop the Khujailok River a few metres away from where the dead body was recovered.

The JAC also questioned how such an incident could occur at the heart of Moreh town right under the nose of security forces.
