AMUCO vows to uphold Manipur's territory, identity

All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO), as part of its campaign series 'Way Forward', organised an awareness campaign at Sagoltongba Makha Leikai community hall bn Friday during which it reiterated the stand to face any threat to the territorial integrity and identity of Manipur.
Informing this in a statement, AMUCO said that the campaign series is being organised to create public awareness regarding the present situation and the way forward, role of public, and the 8-point memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister.
The campaign is also an attempt to seek suggestions from the public to find the way forward, the statement said, while urging the public to participate in such campaigns in large number.
It informed that AMUCO has been condemning the act of aggression by Kuki militants against the Meetei community since the beginning while calling it as an act of terrorism aimed at creating a political space for Kuki community by bifurcating the state on ethnic lines.
Kuki people in the intellectual and political circles, who entered the state from Myanmar and have little or no knowledge of the history of Manipur, are directly involved in the aggression with the sole purpose of achieving their political objective.
Their political agenda has led the state into chaos today, the statement said.
AMUCO reiterated its stand to uphold the territorial integrity and identity of Manipur, and to face any threat.
Since its inception, the organisation has been working on the principle of unity, inclusivity and peaceful co-existence without any sectarian outlook, it added.
AMUCO in association with its dis -trict unit Imphal West District United Clubs' Organisation (IWDUCO) and Western Imphal United Clubs' Organisation (WIUCO) organised the event, which was attended by Sagoltongba Makha Leikai Social Welfare Association president Khwairakpam.
Pishakmacha, AMUCO vice-president S Sanjoy and United Rehabilitation Centre (URC) president M Pushpakanta as presidium members.
