Imphal, July 02 2023: Womenfolk of around 30 villages in Lamsang and Sekmai Assembly Constituencies staged sit-ins demanding the Government to install IRB and Manipur Rifles' battalions in their areas today.

The sit-ins were staged at Sangaithel, Tairenpokpi, Senjembm, Kadangband, Pheiyeng, Senjam Chirang, Kanto Sabal, Khurkhul, Sekmai and Kanglatongbi etc under the aegis of the Naharol Yaipha Thouni Kanglup and Kadangband Apunba Naharol.

Asking the State to deploy and station IRB/MR battalions in the sensitive regions, the womenfolk appealed to the Government to immediately scrap Suspension of Operation (SoO) with Kuki militants and implement National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Manipur.
