Ukhrul, November 08 2023: Thousands of people including students took to the road of Ukhrul town and rallied in support of the Framework Agreement, today.

The rally began from Kharasom junction and Dungrei junction and converged at Wino Bazar, Ukhrul for a public meeting.

Speaking at the public gathering, CAO of Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR) Ayung Sayai highlighted the progress and development of the Naga peace talks.

According to him, Naga's political talks are at the final stage for settlement.

Saying that the Government of India has recognized the 'unique history' of the Nagas, he said that the Framework Agreement was signed in 2015 to boost the ongoing political dialogue between India and NSCN (IM) and work out an honourable solution based on shared sovereignty.

Flag and Constitution are the main ingredients of the Framework Agreement, Ayung Sayai added.

Claiming that Nagas never waged war against any community, but it was India that illegally occupied Naga's territories, he said that Naga people have been defending their land and inherent rights to free themselves from any political dominance.

Sayai also informed that Naga leaders are currently holding peace negotiations with leaders of India at Delhi for a logical conclusion.

Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) president Ramreichan Keishing , in his speech, said that the purpose of holding the peace rally at Ukhrul is to show their collective support to the ongoing Naga peace talks.

He also said that the collective leadership of NSCN/GPRN have the mandate of the Naga people to press their common demand and expedite the peace process in accordance with the Framework Agreement.

The rallyists held rainbow coloured Naga flags and raised slogans, "We want solution", "Implement Framework Agreement", "No justice, no peace" and "Respect Naga's rights" among others.

The rally was organised by TKS.
