MKS sports meet concludes; Katomei Centre bag championship title

The 32nd edition of the Maram Students Union (MKS) that began on January 7 came to a close on Friday at Brig RS Sirohi Playground, T/ Khullen village.
The football tournament was held in memory of Lt Col Robert TA under the theme, "Victory in unity".
The valedictory function was graced by Robert T Maram, working president NPF Manipur State Unit, as the chief guest while Chingpai Genevieve, wife of late Lt Col Robert TA, attended as special guest and Kanga Regina, president Maram Women's Union, as special invitee.
Bosco Kashung T, president MKS, delivered a welcome speech.
Chingpai Genevieve, wife of the late army officer, in her greetings saluted the young officer who gave up his life for the sake of his countrymen.
Kanga Regina, president Maram Women's Union, lauded the youth of the community and encouraged them to bring laurels in different fields to the community, district and state as a whole.
Speaking as the chief guest, Robert T Maram lauded the student body for organising the sports meet in a grand manner.
Referring to the theme, the chief guest told the gathering that unity comes from sacrifice which comes through one's heart that needs the presence of God in one's life.
Where there is unity, victory will automatically follow, he said while urging all to strive for victory under God's plan without any partiality.
While Katomei Centre bagged the championship title in the men's football, Sangkungmei FC bagged the runners-up trophy, the winning team walked away with Rs 1,20,000 and a trophy while the runners-up received Rs 50,000 with a trophy.
Maram Khullen bagged the men's volleyball championship title and walked away with Rs 60,000 and trophy while Sagongbam bagged the second position for Rs 30,000 and a trophy.
Maram Khullen women bagged the women's volleyball title and walked away with Rs 60,000 and a trophy while Willong Khullen were second for Rs 30,000 and a trophy.
Winners of individual prizes were Ranuba of Kavanam FC who bagged the best player award, Lumsyiiba of T/Khullen who was named the highest scorer and the goal keeper of Kazanga FC received the golden glove in men's football.
In men's volleyball, Kasagaba of Maram Khullen was named the best player while Rangala of Willong Khullen bagged the best player award in women's volleyball.
Best discipline team was awarded to Pumdunglung FC.
The organising committee also extended their gratitude to chief minister N Biren Singh for being the chief patron of the sports meet.
