Imphal, January 14 2022:
While demanding removal of illegal voters of a family whose names have been included in the voters' list of Khewa Phurju polling station under Khundrakpam AC; Khewa Phurju Khul Committee has cautioned that the SDO/ERO concerned would be held responsible for any unwanted consequences, resulting from failure to do so.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Friday, Committee secretary S Nanaophulo recounted that one Elangbam Sovid and his family from Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai tried to enrol their names in the voters' list of Khewa Phurju in October last but was unsuccessful after the local authority became aware of it.
A complaint was filed to the then ERO/SDO, following which the BLO rejected the application after verification.
However, the current ERO/SDO sent the SDC Sagolmang to conduct an enquiry and made a false report, based on which the residence {House no.9) of ex-MLA L Lala was reported as Sovid's.Stating that it is unfortunate to include a person who has no property in Khewa Phurju and is not recognised by the locals, in the voter list; the secretary cautioned that any unwanted consequences resulting from this debacle will be the sole responsibility of ERO/SDO Sawombung.
Nanaophulo then urged the officials concerned to conduct an enquiry into the matter and remove the names of the above mentioned family from the voter list.
