Imphal, January 14 2022:
KSC outdid Muvanlai Athletics on penalties in a Kangpokpi derby as CFA eased past SAI2-0 in the 12th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial CRPF Football Tournament on Friday.
KSC, who took the lead in the first half, would have won in regulation time but a defensive error denied them a straightforward victory, needing spot kicks to decide the final outcome.
Seineo Kuki put KSC in front in the 14th minute but teammate Thangkhanlen's attempted clearance in the second half ended up in his own net to see both KSC and Muvanlai remained tied 1-1 at the end of regulation time.
The game went into a penalty shootout where KSC prevailed 4-3 over their opponents courtesy of Lalkholen, Robinson, Nehminlal and Sehgouhao.
CFA, meanwhile, pulled off a convincing 2-0 win over SAI.
After a barren first half, Tongminsei K found the breakthrough for his side in the 68th minute before Gogocha's goal in the 83rd minute put the game beyond doubt.
On Friday, ESU (Wangkhei) clash with SFC at 10 am while UKB (Churachandpur) lock horns with 11-Star (Akampat) at 1 pm.
