CHAMP, TRAU win big in MNCA Elite Tournament

CHAMP (Khagempalli) and TRAU (Kwakeithel) recorded emphatic victories in Tuesday's action of the MNCA Elite Tournament.
Md Sultan Karim and Nitesh Sedai shone with the bat as CHAMP thumped MPSC by 177 runs at Oriental College on Tuesday.
Powered by Karim's unbeaten 115 off 75 balls and Nitesh's 86 off 71 balls, the Khagempalli side put up a competitive total of 270/7 in their 40 overs after opting to bat first.
In the innings, Md Sharoz Khan (21), Narsingh Yadav (19) and Nongthombam Gulson (13) also made contributions in double digits.
In the process, four of CHAMP's wickets fell prey to Keisham Kennedy, two to Indraban S Koijam and one to Sarangthem Shangker Singh.
CHAMP then bowled out MPSC in 34.3 over for 93 .
Najarul Islam led the scalping with a haul of three wickets while Thingbaijam Nicholson and Nitesh Sedai took two apiece, with Mohd Ahsanul Kabir and Md Sultan Karim accounting for one each to wrap up their 177-run win.
For MPSC, Ngangom Sudesh (21), Sarangthem Shangker (18) and Keisham Kennedy (10) were their main run getters in the run chase.
Sultan Karim (115 not out plus 1 wicket) was adjudged the man of the match.
TRAU, meanwhile, bundled out MODEL for 82 in 24.2 overs and then chased down the target in 15.2 overs with nine wickets to spare.
Anand Naorem and Senate Mayengbam rattled MODEL'S batting lineup as the former picked up four wickets and the latter snapped three.
Priyojit Kangabam did his bit with two scalps and Dr Siddarth Shah bagged.
TRAU then overhauled their target in 15.2 overs for the loss of one wicket as opener Karnajit Yumnam (28 not out) and Priyojit Kangabam (38 not out), who batted at 3, guided their side to a comprehensive win after Rahul (10) was dismissed by Somorjit Salam.
Priyojit Kangabam bagged the man of the match title for his unbeaten 38 and two wickets.
