Imphal, February 21 2023:
Khun-dong Khunkhaiba village, under Tamei Assembly Constituency in Tamenglong district, is behind in every aspect.
Located 24 kilometers from Tamei, the village with 141 households has no good road, lacks proper school infrastructure, health and water supply facilities.
Showing the villages around, Khundong Khunkhaiba chairman Mazilungbou Thimai said the people have many grievances and they need proper attention from the Government.
He said the people want the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister to personally visit the village and understand the grievances of the people.
The pathetic condition of the road has been a major cause of concern for the people.
Accidents have occurred and the road is becoming dangerous for the commuters, he added.
The school in the village also lacks all the amenities, he said.
The school is for upto Class V only.
However, to meet the needs, the villagers themselves have engaged 5 more teachers and students upto Class VIII are being taught at the school.
The school has around 142 students.
However, after Class VIII, young students have to stay at rented houses in Noney and Kanglatongbi for their further studies.
In addition, a school building constructed in the village under SSA (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) has been abandoned without completion, said the chairman.
Also, the Primary Health Sub-Centre (PHSC) in the village is functioning without adequate staff.
Further, the only water reservoir built under the Jal Jeevan Mission is so small that it is unable to supply water to all the households, he added.
