Imphal, August 12 2010:
Although the problem of scarcity of fuel has been solved with the open sale of petrol and diesel since Wednesday, the transport fares that had been hiked in the peak of turmoil in Manipur are yet to return to the normal rates.
The normal auto-rickshaw fare in and around Imphal in the pre-turmoil period was Rs 5 but due the scarcity of fuel, the minimum rate of the fare has been hiked to Rs 10 .
The normal bus fare between Imphal and Churachandpur was Rs 45 but it was hiked to Rs 70 because of the fuel scarcity.
On the other hand public transport plying in Chandel district and Thoubal district have reduced their fares since today.
