State and Central security forces have arrested eight persons including five KCP (MC) activists and three foreign nationals from different places in the past 48 hours.
Acting on specific information, Imphal West district police commandos under the command of DySP (CDO) Th Krishnatombi Singh arrested three KCP (MC) activists from near Langol Ningthou temple at around 7 pm yesterday, said a statement issued by SSP (IW) L Kailun.
The three have been identified as Tongbram Ibomcha alias Shamcha alias Rajesh (24) s/o T Biren of Thanga Khunjem Leikai who was staying at Langol Ningthou Leikai; Heikhujam Raja alias Nanao (24) s/o H Etomcha singh of Arong Khunou Heibong Makhong; and Heikhujam Nanao alias Echa (24) s/o H Naba Singh of Arong Khunou Heibong Makhong.
Apart from T Ibomcha's disclosure of working under the command of one Khundon alias Shantikumar of KCP (MC) finance, the individual said that he had kept a 9 mm pistol in the custody of one Oinam Lalu alias Michael of Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai, the SSP informed.
It is also said that based on information extracted from the trio, Oinam Lalu alias Michael (21) s/o O Rupachandra and Laiphrakpam Echa (19) s/o (L) L Achou Singh of Kakwa Laiphrakpam Leikai were pulled up from their respective houses at around 1.05 am of August 12 .
One 9 mm pistol with magazine having four missed rounds were seized from the possession of L Echa, the statement added.
Meanwhile, troops of 29 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector apprehended three Myanmar nationals from Tengnoupal area on August 11 while on their way to Moreh via National highway 39 in a Maruti Van (MN01W/4423), said a PRO IGAR (S) release.
The arrested persons namely Neza Molhok (27) s/o Hayez Madlok of Nairony Maspara, Chaleem (20) s/o Haseem of Aikap and Saifulla (17) s/o Md Sultan of Nairong were spotted sitting suspiciously inside a Maruti Van and on being inquired came to light that they were do not possess proper documents.
All three had entered India through Bangladesh and were working at Hafta Basti (Imphal), the PRO release informed listing three photographs, cash of Rs 3622 and one wrist watch as items recovered from the trio, who had been handed over to Imphal West police station.
