ATDUM demands ramp for wheel-chair in all government buildings

All Tribal Disables' Union Manipur (ATDUM) has demanded construction ramp/pavements for wheel chairs and audio signals for differently able person in all the government establishments in the state.
Recalling about a recent inspection visit by a joint team of ATDUM and Chandel Disables Federation at Chandel Mini Secretariat building and other government office buildings in Chandel district, G Thambousana, Assistant Information and Publicity Secretary of ATDUM pointed out that there are no ramp/pavements for wheel-chair and audio signals for differently able persons in all these buildings.
Ramp/pavements for wheel-chair, which are mandatory in all government office buildings including hospitals and schools, have not been constructed in any of the government office building in Chandel district.
This is in violation of Chapter VIII of the Person with Disability Act, 1995 .
Moreover, offices and hospital buildings which are under construction in the hill districts of the state do not have facilities of wheel-chair ramp/pavements, Thambousana added.
