Opposition eyeing for joint fight in Lok Sabha polls

Opposition political parties in the State are all set to discuss for going together in the coming Lok Sabha election and a decision on whether they should field a common candidate or not is to be finalized in the next couple of days.
According to reports reaching Hueiyen Lanpao, a meeting of all the opposition political parties in the State, namely, MPP, BJP, CPI, CPI (M), JD (U), JD (S), BSP, Trinamool Congress, Forward Block, NCP, MSCP, NPF and NGP, is set to be held on May 31 to discuss political strategies for defeating Congress party in the Lok Sabha election which is due next year.
In addition to this, they would also take a concrete decision on whether to go alone and fight together in the Lok Sabha election.
Reports further said that the need for a definite stand of the Opposition parties has arisen as the Lok Sabha poll is fast approaching and some of the parties have even started making arrangements for fielding their own candidates.
It may be noted here that during the election to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly, the Opposition parties have also come to together and tried their level best to defeat the Congress party in the State.
However, the Congress party emerged with thumping victory.
Even after the election, the opposition parties have been jointly campaigning against use of the controversial Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) in election in Manipur anymore.
Even today, the opposition parties are one in voicing against the various issues confronting the State like hike in prices of essential commodities, escalating crimes against women, the several scams involving crores of rupees, etc.
They have also jointly demanded establishment of Highway Protection Force and repairing the pathetic condition of all the NHs in the State.
