State likely to lose fertilizer quota for May

The fertilizer dealers have expressed apprehension over losing the State's fertilizer quota for the month of May.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Secretary of All Manipur Fertilizer Dealers' Welfare Association Y Modhumangol said that the State's quota of 1,08,000 bags of urea fertilizer for the month of May could be transported from the depot till date.
There is now no means to transport such huge quantity of fertilizers to the meet the demands of the farmers.
The dealers have to transport the fertilizers of their own from Namrup, which is about 540 kilometres from Imphal, and so the fertilizers could be made available to the farmers at the price of Rs.278.80 fixed by the government, he noted.
Modhumangol also appealed to the authorities concerned to take up necessary arrangement for the transportation of allotted fertilizers from the depot as soon as possible.
