However, the dogs which were responsible for causing deaths have already been made to disappear without a trace.
The Senior Veterinary doctor appealed to the general public to report to the Veterinary Department if there is any cases of 'mad-dogs' roaming about and causing problems.
The senior doctor also stated that after the report of three persons dying from dog bites was reported in Phumlou, around 150-200 dogs are being brought to the department daily for anti-rabies vaccination.
The Anti-rabies vaccination programe is also being carried out in and around Phumlou following the report of death cases and it is still going on.
Altogether around 1000 dogs have been vaccinated till today.
According to World Health Organisation (WHO), around 50,000 to 60,000 people die of dog bites in the world, and from this total number of death cases, 70 percent of them are from India.
The number of death cases from dog bites in America, United Kingdom and France are very less as compared to India, the Veterinary doctor pointed out.
He also appealed to all the people keeping dogs in their homes to regularly vaccinate them so as to prevent from contracting rabies.
The vaccination process can be started right from the age of three months onwards.
Highlighting the symptoms of dogs suffering from rabies, the veterinary doctor explained that there are normally two signs through which one can find out whether a dog is suffering from rabies or not.
The first symptom shows a dog with very violent attitude with urge to bite at any person or things.
The other symptom shows the dog in a semi conscious state of mind with no appetite and the lower part of the dog's body is normally squeezed up in such cases.
