Imphal, May 29 2013:
The Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong, Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long and Tangkhul Shanao Long today said that the un-mandated ADCs have no say in any developmental, social or any issues in Ukhrul District.
In a joint statement signed by Yangmi Khapai, President, TKS; Ningkhan Shang, President, TMNL and Ringluiwon, President, TSL said "We have seen good improvement in the schools and have not noticed any misconduct or misappropriation of fund so far by the present CEO of Ukhrul ADC.
"The people of Ukhrul District urged the government to act in the interest of people rather than taking the words of those Null and Void ADCs," it stated.
Meanwhile, the Chandel Naga People's Organization (CNPO) and the Naga Chiefs' Association Chandel (NCAC) have also registered strong opposition to the implementation of 25% MGNREGS by members of Autonomous District Council.
In a joint statement, the CNPO and NCAC said the Governor's order dated Nov 5, 2012 which stated that more than 25% of the NREGA shall be earmarked for proposal and implementation of MGNREGS by the members of Autonomous District Council Members, is not acceptable to the organizations in particular and the general public of Chandel in general.
Terming the MDC members as 'null and void' the joint statement said that it will not accept or compromise with the ADC members as they are already declared as "null and void" by the United Naga Council, Manipur.
The release further stated that when the MDC elected members are totally boycotted and are not allowed to come to their respective place or villages, how can the same fake representatives of the people implemented the said scheme.
