The All Tribal Disabled Students' Union Manipur (ATDSUM) has warned of launching various forms of agitation from September 2 if the Govt fails to fulfil the various demands raised by the union within August 30. According to ATDSUM president, Momo Tantanga, who addressed a press meet at the union office located at Nagaram Block D today, the demands included setting up of special school for disabled students, decentralisation of disable certificate issuing authority, exemplary punishment against officials of Social Welfare Office, Sapermeina, appointment of Disabled Commissioner under Social Welfare dept.
Elaborating, Momo Tantanga said that the disabled school (mainly for blind and mute) at Takyel could not accommodate all disabled students.
Hence, setting up of a special school for locomotor is necessary.
The union has also submitted several memoranda earlier to the Social Welfare Minister.
He said that if the demands are not considered positively by August 30, several forms of agitation would be launched by the union from Sept 2 .
