Imphal, August 10, 2013:
Kasom Khullen Sub-Division Development Association (KKSDDA) along with the Headmen and Secretaries, Tangkhul Naga Aze Longphang, student activists, pastors, societies leaders, intellectuals, well wishers and social worker of the Sub-Division has taken resolutions unanimously in a public meeting held yesterday at Tangkhul Avenue Community Hall here.
According to a press release of KKSDDA, the meeting further decided to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Manipur and concern authorities.
The resolutions were, it has been eagerly waiting for the implementation of ADB sponsored double lane Tupul-Kasom Khullen Road construction under DONER Ministry.
"We were taken aback as we came across through a local paper about the decision of the State Government to defer the road construction work.
Further delay or cancellation of the work will deeply hurt the sentiments of the people and continue to keep them being alienated from the mainstream.
This will neither be in the interest of the State nor that of us", the release quoted the Chairman and General Secretary of KKSDDA as saying.
It then stated in the resolutions that the distance from Imphal to Wanglee/Namlee Village is about 95 kms which is shorter than the distance between Imphal to Moreh.
So, the Government should give first priority to Tupul to Kasom Khullen Road, and also open border trade centre at Wanglee/Namlee Village.
A border trade centre between Wanglee/Namlee (Manipur, India) and Phayang (Myothit township in Myanmar) should be opened to boost not only the Indo-Myanmar economic growth but to meet the long felt needs, aspiration and interest of the peoples of the border areas of both the countries, the release added.
It also stated, the third resolution was that the construction of the SDO office new building has long been completed, though the delay in inauguration has caused inconvenience to the general public.
The Govt should take prompt and necessary action to inaugurate the new building at the earliest so as to enable the proper functioning of the Govt staffs at the said administrative headquarters on regular basis.
The delay in inauguration and non function in the headquarter are inviting the general public to agitate.
So, it has been decided that the Kasom Khullen Sub-Division SDO office new building should inaugurate within October 2013 failing which any form of agitation will be taken up and unwanted outcome will be the Govt's responsibility, the release warned.
