Lamka, August 10, 2013:
The third World Zomi Convention is scheduled to be held at Lamka, two decades after the second such convention was hosted by ZORO at Aizawl, under the aegis of Zomi Council general headquarters in the last part of October at Lamka public ground.
The first formal meeting of the organizing committee which was appointed by the Core committee was held today at the Zomi Council office here wherein a concept note on the convention and reports on the mobilization drive undertaken across the globe, have been tabled.
It is felt imperative to convene another convention of the Zomis across the globe to discuss the internal social and cultural problems and issues so as to find out better directions to strengthen the on-going geo-political reunification of the Zomis, said the concept note release today on the reason behind holding such convention.
Preparations have been upbeat particularly in Myanmar's Chin state where ZYA Burma has planned to send a cultural troupe.
President of the Myanmar based Zomi Congress for Democracy Chin Sianthang and his better-half has also consented to grace the three day convention, said the mobilization report.
Zomi leaders across the globe, from USA, Norway, Singapore, and Australia will also attend the convention besides their counterparts in the Indian state of Manipur and Mizoram, it added.
