Boycotting the Independence Day celebration of India, six armed outfits of CorCom and five different outfits operating in different parts of Western Southeast Asia region have called a general strike with effect from 1 am to 5.30 pm on August 15 in the entire region.
A joint press statement issued by CorCom Manipur, Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council, Kamtapur Liberation Organisation, National Democratic Front of Boroland, National Liberation Front of Twipra, United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) said that essential services, emergency measures, media and religious activities are exempted from the purview of the general strike.
The statement said that Indian independence from the British rule in 1947 was merely a transfer of colonial power into the hands of Indian rulers who are connected to and work in collusion with the oppressive feudal lords, princes and global finance institutions.
The subjugated and oppressed peoples of the region cannot have fraternal relation with the exploitative India Government, the statement said.
"The celebration by the Indian State with pomp at a huge cost is going to be repeated again in our region like previous years to create illusions that the region is an integral part of the Indian Republic, in an attempt to gloss over the colonial rule, which in fact prevails today", the statement said.
To astute observers such a state of affair would be abundantly clear from the mechanics of Indian rule.
To prevent disruption in displaying this grand showcase, the occupation of forces are being ordered to intensify flag marches, wide spread stop and searches to prevent activists taking retaliatory actions and people expressing dissent democratically which in their human rights, the statement said.
The so-called representatives in the Legislative Assemblies and bureaucrats of the establishment are simply puppets of the Indian colonial scheme, the statement and adding that crude selfishness makes them loyal to their masters.
Although they are born as citizens of our nations, they have become traitors and are preparing themselves to repeat the crimes of hoisting Indian tricolour, airing Indian national anthem, deploying massive security shields to guard the rituals and misguiding many into observing it, the statement added.
It further said that these anti-national criminals constitute a small chunk of the powerful internal enemy who violates international norms and the national expectations held dear by the freedom loving citizens of our respective nations.
It is not only the people of the WESEA region along, the oppressive Indian rulers are ruthlessly suppressing and exploiting the majority of the Indian people and are denied freedom, equality, peace, democracy and development, the statement added.
The statement further said that in this scenario, promotion of the official independence ritual in our region is a mockery to the oppressed Indians and the democratic forces that are fighting for national and social liberation in their habitats.
