The Election Commission of India (ECI) has approved the casting of votes on the day of the Lok Sabha elections in Manipur (April 11 and 18) from 7 am to 4 pm .
According to a reliable source, the ECI approved the request of the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur to ensure casting of vote during the aforementioned duration.
The election notice for Outer Parliamentary Constituency will be issued on March 18 while that of Inner Parliamentary Constituency will be issued the next day, March 19 .
The source continued that in light of the coming election, a training programme concerning the IT applications to be used in the election was organised by the CEO for the political parties at CEO conference hall, Lamphelpat today.
On the other hand, the source also informed that the security personnel who will be utilised for the election, have started reaching the State today as well.
Pointing out that the Deputy Election Commissioner of ECI, Sudeep Jain will reach Imphal on March 19, the source added that he will personally inspect the preparations for the election, apart from meeting the political parties to take feedbacks for ensuring smooth and peaceful conduct of the election.
The Deputy Election Commissioner will also meet the Chief Secretary, DGP and Home Secretary, apart from holding talks with the DCs and SPs regarding the election, the source added.
