CCpur, March 15 2019:
The Young Vaiphei Association (YVA) said that it had admitted all four siblings of a labourer identified as Samu to an orphanage home while their 8 month old brother, who had drawn much sympathy from social media users after their deplorable living conditions were highlighted to the masses, was handed over to a family related to maternal grand-father.
Earlier, on March 2, a whatsapp group visited the five siblings after their living conditions were highlighted by some people.
With due permission from their father, the highly malnourished baby was taken to the hospital where he received treatment until yesterday With the social media post of the kids going viral and the local media, both printed and electronic going gaga over the hospitalisation of the baby, the YVA GHQ have stepped in to supervise the assistance coming for the family.
As the kids' father, Samu confiding that he will not be able to look after the children and their maternal grand-parents too maintaining the same, four of the five older siblings have been admitted to an Orphanage Home said Upa Vungminthang, President YVA today.
Addressing the media persons at CCpur Press Club on the issue about the family, the YVA President said that four older siblings have been admitted to the home shelter for their own good and to receive decent education with full consent of their father.
As the youngest one was too young to be kept in an orphanage home, a family from the maternal side who agreed to raise him has taken custody of the baby, he added.
YVA President further said that the money received through contribution and assistance for the welfare of the children, will be kept in safe hands and be handed over back to them when they grew up as matured persons while adding that YVA will continue to monitor the well-being of the kids.
He also appealed all to refrain from disseminating false and unfounded stories about the helpless kids and maintained that YVA is always ready to clear any doubts about their decisions.
