Election model code of conduct : DEO issues strict dos and don'ts

The District Election Officer of Imphal West has instructed that carrying news items by TV channels, newspaper and other media lauding assistance or help from political leaders and criticism of parties or political leaders based on unconfirmed and unverified allegations or distortions, should be avoided during the period in which the model code of conduct is in force.
The notice issued by the DEO conveyed that the District Model Code of Conduct Standing Committee of Imphal West district held a meeting today at 4 pm, to discuss the news transmitted on TOM TV today regarding the support and assistance extended by the Chief Minister to one L Roshan of Chaireng Leingangtabi, Bishnupur for getting his eyes operated.
The meeting also discussed the news item telecast by the same channel yesterday and which was also published by the local daily Kangleipak Meira, stating that the Chief Minister was trying to make Dr Kh Loken of Sagolband Assembly Constituency as the BJP candidate for 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, to help RK Imo Singh, sitting MLA of Sagolband AC, who is the son in law of the CM, win the election from Sagolband AC in the next Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, in great detail, it explained and instructed all media fraternity to avoid such practice during the period the model code of conduct is in force.
The media has also been instructed to refrain from telecasting or carrying such news items, failing which necessary actions will be taken up for violating the model code of conduct.
