Screening of films for enlistment to the prestigious Mumbai International Film Festival got underway at the Palace compound auditorium of Manipur Film Development Corporation.
On the first day today, animation film entitled 'True Love Story' and directed by Gitanjali Rao was screened.
The 18-minute film eventually turned out to be visual treat for the audience whose comments after the screening ranged from animated curiosity on the production technicalities to vision of film-maker and directorial suaveness.
In all 24 films, including from international production houses, would be screened at the three-day event.
There will also be eight films made by Manipuri film-makers.
Earlier, the inaugural programme of the Festival was held with Commissioner (Art & culture) Dr RK Nimai Singh and Branch Manager, Films Division of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Sumay Mukherjee as the chief guest and functional president respectively.
In his brief address as the occasion, Dr RK Nimai expressed that hosting of such a prestitious event would lift the spirit of the local film-makers to explore new ideas.
Films to be screened at the MFDC auditorium will be either animation or documentary productions.
