Imphal, May 20 2014 :
Former MP BD Behring today accused Manipur Government of not complying with the established law while evicting Naga River village (Kabo Leikai) here.
Speaking on the occasion of observing 'Law Breaking Day (Forced Eviction)' organized by Joint Action Committee (JAC) Against Forced Eviction of Naga River Lane (Kabo Leikai), Behring said certain things are required whenever the Government plans to carry out eviction drive in areas inhabited by Scheduled Tribe.
But the residents of Kabo Leikai were driven out by Manipur Government without complying with the norms.
Pointing out that majority of the evicted residents of Kabo have been rendered homeless today, the former MP demanded the Government to extend support and help to these displaced people.

She reminded that the Law Breaking Day (Forced Eviction) is being observed since 2013 as a mark of protest against the forced eviction of Kabo Leikai residents by the Government.
She pledged that the JAC will continue to observe the day in the coming years as an objective to get justice.
