Chandel, May 20 2014 :
The people of Chandel will repair and mend the deplorable Pallel-Chandel-Chakpikarong road beginning from Pallel to Modi village on May 27 .
The decision was taken during a public meeting convened by Chandel naga People's Organisation (CNPO) at MACA Hall here today, wherein about 60 Naga leaders from seven tribes of the district attended.
In addition to the Tribe leaders, Chiefs, well wishers and representatives from various NGOs and Churches were also present.
Speaking to media after the meeting, convener of the meeting and President of CNPO WS Kanral Anal informed that the decision was taken in the wake of BRO/ BRTF and state agencies neglecting the only life-line of the people without any repair for the last many years.
All owners of vehicles including JCB, Buses, trucks, DI, Sumo and auto rickshaws have been asked to extend support and cooperation during the mass social work that will begin from 8:00 am, Kanral stated.
During the meeting, the tribe leaders also raised serious concern over increasing number of Band Saws in the district which according to them is detrimental to the environment.
In this connection the meeting, while endorsing the previous decision to ban operation of band saws in the district, agreed to organise workshops and seminars in consultation with the church leaders and village authorities, the CNPO president further informed.
