Imphal, May 20 2014 :
Demanding to maintain transparency and fair conduct in the selection process of Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC), Joint Students' Co-ordination Committee (JSSC), a joint body of AMSU, MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK and AIMS, submitted a memorandum to the Governor today.
Addressing a press meet in this connection at Manipur Press Club here, Thangjam Premananda, convenor of JSSC, stated that there have been certain mistakes in the MCS preliminary examination conducted by MPSC on April 24 but instead of rectifying the mistakes, the Commission has suddenly announced issuing of forms for sitting in the Main Examination on May 19 .
This is unacceptable.
He asserted that the decision of MPSC has not been taken in the interest of aspirants and demanded immediate halt on issuing of form until the matter is resolved.
Informing that both the Chairman and the Secretary of MPSC were found absent in their office when the committee went to meet them, Premananda noted that there is no such system elsewhere in the country where candidates are awarded grace marks for wrong questions in any competitive examination.
He also said that absence of transparency and irresponsible conduct of the examination have put the fate of 12, 000 aspirants at stake and appealed to the Governor to look into the matter in the interest of student community.
