Imphal, December 18 2014:
The Muan Tombing led All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) today submitted a memorandum to the CM demanding regularisation of 333 adhoc teachers under the Education Dept before the commencement of the next academic session.
Addressing media persons today at its Nagaram office, ATSUM-T secretary, Vareiyo Shatsang said that the service of adhoc teachers of the Education Dept who have been rendering service for more than 15 years has not been regularised so far even after the State Cabinet approved their regularisation on July 29, 2013 .
A total of 333 teachers among the 1240 teachers who have undergone physical verification conducted by the screening committee have been recommended for regularisation, V Shatsang said.
Whereas other departments have settled the issue of regularisation of adhoc employees, the Education Dept is yet to settle the matter till date, he rued.
The ATSUM secretary further said that engaging teachers from primary school to college level as adhoc employees to fill shortage of teachers in the hill districts would not be good in the long run.
He urged the Govt to regularise the service of 333 genuine adhoc teachers in order to realise the dream of achieving quality education.
