Obituary reference to late MLA Kunjo marks first day of Winter Session

Obituary reference and observance of a two-minute silence on the passing away of MLA of Hiyanglam Constituency, M Kunjo marked the first day of the ninth session of 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly which began today.
Chief Minister O Ibobi in his obituary reference to the late MLA recalled that M Kunjo who was elected from Hiyanglam Constituency for fourth times was a dedicated political leader who had always worked for welfare of the people.
The CM narrated that MLA Kunjo for the first time won election in 1974 on Manipur Peoples' Party (MPP) ticket, followed by his second win in 1985 election, after which he served as Minister of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj.
He was again elected in 2000 election from the ticket of Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) and became Minister of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry.
He also came out with thumping victory in the election of 2012 contesting from All India Trinamool Congress (AITC)'s ticket, Ibobi added.
Saying that the people lost a dedicated political leader with the sad demise of MLA Kunjo, the CM acknowledged that the late MLA had an amicable nature.
MLA Dr I Ibohalbi who also made obituary reference to the demise MLA asserted that MLA Kunjo was a true leader who had always wanted to bring welfare for people of the State, while expressing that the leader during his stint as a Minister had taken up many notable developmental works.
Members of the House who also made obituary reference to late MLA Kunjo during the first day of the winter session of the Assembly are Th Lokeshwar, Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly; Commerce & industries Minister, Govindas Konthoujam; MLA Shyamkumar; MLA Joykishan; MLA K Shyam; MLA P Brojen and MLA E Dwijamani.
All the Members of the House also observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
Later, CM Ibobi tabled report of 11th Vigilance Advisory Committee 2014 in the House.
