URF cadre involved in MG Avenue blast arrested

Imphal, December 18 2014:
Police today claimed that it arrested the URF cadre who was involved in the bomb blast at MG Avenue in Imphal on December 15 last.
A press statement issued by PRO, Manipur Police Department stated that Imphal West District Police on December 16 last apprehended one active member of URF namely Khangembam Sanjoy Singh @ Athoi @ Pamei @ Amumba (20) S/o Kh.
Manglemba Singh of Kumbi Lai Santhong Maning Leikai in Bishnupur District, presently staying at Uripok Achom Leikai Imphal.
He was arrested from near Lamsang Commando Post.
The statement added that he was involved in the bomb blast at M.G.Avenue on December 15.Investigation reveals that he planted the IED under the instruction and command of Lalheiba Meitei.
Incriminating article was also seized from his possession, it said.
On further investigation, one Glock-26, 9 mm pistol, which he had hidden at the rented house of RK Irabot Singh (70) S/o (L) RK.
Rotonsana Singh of Uripok Achom Leikai was also seized along with a magazine loaded with 5 (five) live rounds of 9 mm ammunition.
Meanwhile, a combined team of Imphal West district police, Senapati District police and 25 Assam Rifles raided the house of one Stephen located at Kalianjang Village near Taphou Kuki Village, Senapati District.
During the raid, an encounter took place between the combined force and unknown cadres of URF organisation for about 2/3 minutes, the statement said.
After the encounter, the combined force searched the house of Stephen.
During the search, one S/S 2nd Lt.of URF (Lalheiba Faction), namely, Kamei Badal @ Bravo (28) S/o Kamei Makam of Jiribam Uchathal was apprehended.
Incriminating articles were also seized from his possession.
A case has been registered at Lamsang Police Station and investigation is going on.
In another incident, a team of District Police Commando, Thoubal arrested one cadre of UNLF, namely Sagolshem Malemnganba Meitei @ Chingburoi Meitei (27) s/o S.Inaocha Singh of Keirak Tomal Makhong Pareng during frisking at Wabgai Lamkhai Bazar.
A case has been registered at Kakching Police Station and investigation is going on.
