Imphal, December 18 2014:
Manipur Trinamool president Th Shyamkumar has said it is glad that Dr Y Radheshyam has quit the party.
During a press meet held today at the office of MPTCC, party president Th Shyamkumar said that Dr Radheshyam recently joined the Manipur Trinamool Congress Committee (MPTCC) and contested the by-poll to Hiyanglam constituency last October on the party ticket.
He said Dr Radheshyam had earlier fought the Manipur Assembly polls from Hiyanglam on CPI ticket.
He then sought BJP ticket for the Hiyanglam by-poll, which was not given, Shyamkumar said.
He later approached Trinamool for ticket to contest the by-poll and then joined the fray, Shyamkumar added.
"Now that he has quit the party after he was utterly defeated in the by-poll.
He got less than half of the total vote in his home polling Langmeidong," the MPTCC leader said.
"Nothing is lost after his exit from the party.
Dr Radheshyam should try to know the ideology of the new party before he joins it for a political career," Shyamkumar said.
