World Blood Donor Day observed

As observed globally, the State too joined in observing World Blood Donor Day to raise awareness on the need of safe blood and blood products for transfusion under the theme "Donating Blood is an act of solidarity.
Join efforts and save lives" .
State Blood Cell, National Health Mission Manipur in association with Manipur Voluntary Health Association Wangkhei , Association of Voluntary Blood Donor ,Thoubal Bazar, People Resources Development Association, Bishnupur and JNIMS Blood Bank organised World Blood Donor Day observation at the conference hall of Manipur Voluntary Health Association today.
The observation was attended by Additional Director (MC) Directorate of Health Services Manipur, Dr Lalthari Hmar, DTO Imphal West, Dr Aken Singh, senior MO of Blood Bank JNIMS, Dr K Surjit Singh and SPO State Blood Cell, NHM Manipur, Dr H Khamkhanpau Simte as the presidium members.

In connection with the observation, a voluntary blood donation camp was also held.
The blood donors were honoured with certificates.
World Blood Donor Day was also observed at RIMS OPD complex today organised by RIMS Blood Donors' Community and Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee under the sponsorship of RIMS Authority.
Speaking at the occasion, RIMS Director, Professor A Santa Singh highlighted the need of raising awareness about blood donation and maintained that the State needs voluntary blood donors so as to meet the demand of blood.
Stating that there are no ill-effects in donating blood, he appealed to all to donate blood to save precious human lives.
More than 100 blood donors including students and doctors of RIMS donated blood today in the blood donation camp held as a part of the observation.
